I shot Chris Crocker in Bristol, TN about a month ago for V Magazine. I was looking forward to it, but I always get a little worried when I shoot subjects who have maybe been around the block a few times with the press. They are a bit more thick-skinned, more difficult to crack open, harder to capture something new from.

With Chris it was like this a good deal of the time. When we would talk about bullying or the harder times, he would clam up. But spending more time with him, I just kept talking & eventually we both forgot about the camera. In the end I enjoyed my time with him so much & am thankful to hear the story of internet fame from someone who was really there from the inception.

I’m excited about his documentary coming out as well, Me @ The Zoo. The imagery looks incredible & I’m sure that there is so much more to learn about this person.
